A few days ago, I decided to book flights back home to Singapore, due to various reasons:
- My onwards Buddhist places are called Piprahwa and Shravasti. Piprahwa is said to have the Buddha’s relics but seems like simple ruins. For Shravasti, I cannot find out how to get there online. So, I might need to hunt and find out locally. So, I decided to skip these 2 last Buddhist sites.
- Besides Piprahwa and Shravasti, the rest of the journey are purely sightseeing, which are near New Delhi. I can visit them when I come back to India again.
- The trains for the next legs of the trip seem to be fully booked. So, unless I take the bus throughout, I would need to buy train tickets for later dates.
- And, maybe the most important reason, I am kinda tired, overall.
- Tired from moving from place to place so often, which I would need to do, if I continue on my journey.
- Tired from the constant bargaining.
- Tired of people constantly asking for money.
So, it is a good thing that I stayed at Kushinagar for 5 nights, where it is quieter , with less bargaining and fewer people openly asking for money, before I fly back on 19th Nov 2024.
This post is to document the journey back home to Singapore.
I left the Tibetan Temple at 845am and slowly walked to the main road.

Just after taking the photo of the entrance into Kushinagar, I saw 2 buses coming along.
I wanted to take the bus behind as it seems to be emptier but if I tried to flag the bus behind and it didn’t stop, then I would need to wait for subsequent buses.

1hour journey.

Small airport. 2 pictures were taken from the same spot.
Picture 1 of 2: The entry is on the left. The check in counters are on the right.

Picture 2 of 2: The security for boarding is just on the right. And the gates are just beyond the security.

Even if you have 15kg of checked in luggage weight, you still MUST check in your luggage. I was hoping to bring my backpack on board the plane.
Interestingly, liquids of more than 100ml can be brought on board the plane.

Considering that the poor can get by with a roti/chapati at 10 Rupees and a dish of dal for 10 Rupees. This must seem like a fortune. My usual meal in India is about 150 Rupees, so this is 3 times the cost of my usual meal.
It is not bad. But I have tasted better in India. No choice, I am hungry.

I am just happy that I could fly into New Delhi. Read that some flights were delayed and some were cancelled due to the heavy smog.
Now, hoping that my night flight out of New Delhi would be ok.

Non-Veg Thaali: Dal Tadka, Butter Chicken, Jeera Pulao, 1 piece of Tawa Paratha, Raita and dessert. 610.06 Rupees.
Delicious. Better than my lunch.

This would be packeted for my supper or meal later on.

There was no queue at the immigration as well. Maybe because it is 250am.

Ordered chicken noodles which comes with a drink. 400 Rupees. I was expecting a can of Coke Zero.
Later, the air stewardess told me to inform her if I want a refill. Refill? Is it unlimited refill? Yes.
Wow. To test the system, instead of my original Coke Zero, I asked for a refill of mango juice. Got the mango juice. Success!!
That’s not too bad, to have unlimited refills of any drink.
They also provide free water throughout the flight.
I have to say that flying with IndiGo was very pleasant, with the ample leg room and the free service of water.

My pizza bought from Pizza Hut at New Delhi Airport.
And this concludes my 19/20 days holiday in India!! Till the next adventure!!
