Somehow, I feel like blogging about this simple journey from New Delhi Airport to my hotel which is near the New Delhi Railway Station. (I have a feeling that I might be blogging quite often on this India Holiday.)
Off to my first night adventure in India!
After exiting the gates of the Airport, I was scouted by a taxi tout asking if I need a taxi. I pointed to the Metro sign and heading towards the Airport Metro Express.

After exiting the metro station, I followed signs to New Delhi Railway Station. Immediately, the bus touts came towards me. Ignoring them I went up the overhead bridge that links the whole New Delhi Railway Station to the other side of the station where my hotel is situated.

Along the overhead bridge, there was a barrier blocked by a security guard. I then approached the security guard asking how to get to the other side of the station.
After asking the locals to go down the overhead bridge, he opened the barrier to let me through. Then I walked past the barrier to a security check at the other end of the blocked passage.
(So, I suppose that you would actually need to go down the overhead bridge, then go up another stairs to the overhead bridge and get past the security check, before you can cross the whole railway station.)
After exiting the railway station, there were people sitting, sleeping, walking around. This was 930pm at night. The mass of people were coupled with lots of auto-rickshaws and the honks from the various vehicles around the area.
I then walked to my hotel which was just around the corner.

The hotel that I booked has several names.
715Rupees for 1 night. Ok for me. And it is near the Railway Station. I need to catch the 6am train to Varanasi the next day. (I can hear the honking and chaos of the Railway Station in the room) And it has a lift to my 4th floor room.
I at first booked it under Bittu Guest House. And through my google maps research, I know the facade shows “Le Cashew”. Then found the photos of Bittu Guest House and “Paharganj – BY – Homely stay Cashew” in Booking.com are the same.
However, the price under “Paharganj – BY – Homely stay Cashew” is slightly cheaper by 135Rupees (about S$2: Bittu Guest House is 850Rupees for the night). So, I canceled my Bittu Guest House booking and booked “Paharganj – BY – Homely stay Cashew” instead.

Thus, with this first night adventure to my New Delhi hotel, starts my India adventure.
