Starting my Australia Road Trip

Going for a solo road trip, driving over half of Australia, around the west coast of Australia. Would start driving from 9th Dec 2018, Sunday. Have yet to plan the whole road trip yet. Would be planning it along the way.

The first half of the road trip is set as I would be meeting some friends along the way up the red centre (south to north).  Arranging the first part of my road trip to coincide with the schedules of my friends in Melbourne, near Alice Springs, and Darwin.

Would be updating the post along the way. For costs and distance covered, you can click on this link. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1UOCBBykZ45unQRYMfjVcdLgO3eaQMwi1dYCq3JhXWSk

The plan:

Accommodations: Would be sleeping in my tent, getting a site from caravan parks along the way. In the bigger cities, I would get a bunk bed in a hostel.

Meals: Most meals would be on the go. Would try to cook a nicer meal in the evenings. Have borrowed a portable stove and a small frying pan from my brother. Got my mesh tins as well.   Would try to dine out when I am in the bigger cities.

Petrol: The strategy is to just top up when my petrol hits a certain level, maybe when half full (or empty depending on how you look at it.). So, that means, my petrol costs would be neither at a minimal nor would it be the most expensive. Topping my petrol regularly as I am driving solo, so never good to be stuck alone in the middle of nowhere.

I might have explored some places on previous holidays, hence, might not be doing much exploring again at the same places. I had done a road trip in 2015 with a friend where we went around the eastern side of Australia then through the red centre, then headed towards Canberra. Did not have a blog then, however, you can check out the general costs of petrol and locations per this link. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tA2sWGmefKvr8skXudYLQvQOlCpmVOGlTzLluzaE9ps
